Since the tragic loss of my son, Rhamero, I’ve been visiting schools, colleges, pupil referral units and community centres to share our story and raise awareness about the devastating impact of knife crime. I highlight the ripple effect it has on families, friends and even perpetrators who may face life sentences.
As a mother on a mission, my goal is to encourage, engage and empower young people to make positive choices. Our sessions cover motivational talks, education on violent crime and its consequences, trauma and follow-up support.
The Merosworld Foundation’s visits to schools are highly beneficial in raising awareness about knife crime and helping to prevent it. These visits allow the foundation to educate students on the serious consequences of carrying and using knives, providing real-life examples and impactful stories that resonate with young people. By fostering open discussions and interactive sessions, the foundation helps students understand the social and emotional impact of knife crime on individuals and communities. Additionally, these visits empower students with knowledge and resources to make safer choices, resist peer pressure, and engage in positive activities. This proactive approach not only raises awareness but also helps build a safer and more informed youth community, ultimately contributing to the reduction of knife-related incidents.
